BPEC - Solar PV Installation & Testing Training Course |
|
The British Plumbing Employers Council (BPEC) developed the Solar PV training course aiming to provide electricians with knowledge and skills required to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems to single phase supplies. The Solar PV course is recognised as a demonstration of competence for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and has been structured to meet the requirements of the National Occupational Standards. The Solar PV course is a requirement of the Minimum Technical Competency document for Solar PV installers. Why Install Solar Photovoltaics (PV)? Today’s energy supply is becoming ever more critical as CO2 levels continue to rise along with fuel costs increasing rapidly. To help counter this and make a positive impact within the UK energy market Solar Photovoltaics was introduced. Solar Photovoltaics, or Solar PV, is quickly becoming a method to reduce carbon emissions. As PV systems generate no greenhouse gasses – a typical domestic system can save approximately 1.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year. Solar PV systems use cells to convert solar radiation into electricity. When light shines on the cell it creates an electric field across the layers, causing electricity to flow, the greater the intensity of the light, the greater the flow of electricity. Solar PV Training Course BenefitsThe Solar PV course will enable candidates to select the most appropriate solar photovoltaic system for a property to meet the client's needs and to commission and hand over the PV system. It will also provide an understanding of all the legal issues surrounding the installation of solar PV systems and guidance on completion and submission of all the appropriate notifications. Solar PV Training Course Requirements This solar PV installation training course is aimed at qualified electricians. Trainees should hold a formal craft qualification e.g. N/SVQ 3 in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures) or equivalent earlier certification that includes testing and inspection or a recognised Part P competence certification that includes Inspection & Testing and a BS 7671: 2008 Requirements for Electrical Installations (17th Edition) qualification.
